Understanding the types of iPhone available and why you need a 3GS.

Following the summer 2009 release of the iPhone 3GS, there are now three different models of iPhone – original, 3G and 3GS.

All three variations of the iPhone look almost identical in terms of appearance and weigh very similar amounts. The original iPhone and 3G iPhone were available in memory sizes up to 16gb. The latest model, the 3GS, has a 32gb version available but remains relatively light weight.

At present in the United Kingdom you are still able to purchase the 3G model of the iPhone. While this is often a cheaper option, the benefits of the 3GS comfortably justify any extra cost. Some of the key extra functionality to be found within a 3GS model iPhone are:

Faster loading of web pages and the launching of apps

Ability to record videos

Voice control to dial numbers or play songs

Copy and paste

Seemlessly send picture or video messages

It must, of course, be pointed out that some of the above features are available to existing 3G owners who download the 3.0 software (which comes built in to the 3GS models).
